Good news for former Bronco Zack Smith. The heart and soul player from Maple Creek has re-signed with the Ottawa Senators for two more seasons. Terms of the deal were not disclosed so at this time I don’t know if it’s a two-way deal or how much he’ll be pulling in. Either way congrats are due to Smith who has turned himself into an every day NHLer.
He went from 15 NHL games in 2009-10 to 55 this season. You would have to think (depending on the new Senators head coach) that Smith is in a very good position to earn a regular spot in the Ottawa line-up. You can’t question his heart and grit. He is also showing the ability to put up points at the professional level. Since the Senators NHL season ended Smith has been with the AHL club in Binghamton. He’s thriving there with 17 points in 17 playoff games.
I’ll try to update when details of the deal become available. Congrats to Zack and best of luck as his Eastern Conference Champion Binghamton Senators head to the AHL Calder Cup Final. I know everyone here will be cheering for them.
It’s been a busy couple of days on the blog so scroll down for posts on Steven Myland signing, interviews with Bantam draft pick coaches, an interview with Theo Fleury and a video on Joe Sakic getting inducted into the Broncos Hall of Fame. Check them out.

Hi Shawn,
Sportsnet is reporting that it is in a one-way deal! Great news for a great former Bronco captain! Still no word on $$ yet.
