Legionnaires and Wildcats Interviews

What a battle this afternoon between the Home Hardware Legionnaires and the Prince Albert Mintos. It’s been a very tough final month of the season for the Legionnaires… but boy did they fight tooth and nail today. The Mintos are considered by some to be the top Midget AAA team in Canada and Swift Current physically dominated them in the third only to come up a goal short. They were so close. A big stop on a breakaway and a rebound was really the difference in the third.

A loss is a loss, but the guys really should hold their heads up after the fight they showed today. There is no reason they can’t put up another great battle on the road in Prince Albert for game 3. Hopefully we will see them back here on Thursday for Game 4.

Here are some post-game interviews…

WILDCATS

As for the other local Midget AAA team, the female Diamond Energy Wildcats got off to a rough start with an 11-1 loss to the Saskatoon Stars in Game 1. It’s a tough match for the young and developing Wildcats crew. They will try to use the smaller confines of Fairview East to limit the room the Stars have to work on Monday night. The Wildcats have improved all season long and I’m sure they will step up and give the Stars everything they have.

As for other minor hockey results, the first place Midget AA K-Motel Hurricanes are still wrapping up their regular season. The Bantam AA Kabos Raiders were eliminated in the first round of their playoffs with a 2-1 overtime loss to Weyburn on Saturday. Thanks to Colin Powers for covering that game for us.

If you have any minor hockey playoff results to send us we will be glad to report them on the radio and on Swift Current Online. Fire us an e-mail to scnews@goldenwestradio.com or call us at 773-NEWS
