I’m heading to Moose Jaw for the game tonight and examining my options. The live blog platform (Cover it Live) that I had been using is no longer as free as it once was. It’s not really going to work for me anymore and I’m having a hard time figuring out what alternatives would work best.
I’ve settled on (at least for now) trying UStream. I don’t know how well my webcam will work in Moose Jaw but it might give the added option of at least a view of the action… probably not a great view but a view. We’ll see how it goes. If anyone has a suggestion I’m all ears. Cover it Live worked quite well for what I was doing last year but it’s way too limited now for free users. We’ll try this one out and let me know how it works for you.

The Swift Current Broncos and Moose Jaw Warriors have the honour of opening the WHL pre-season with their annual rookie game tonight at 7pm in Moose Jaw. It’s a chance for both teams to showcase the young guns that will carry them into the future and that will hopefully make big impacts on their team this year as well.
This isn’t exclusively a rookie game. Some younger veterans will also see time. The Broncos wouldn’t be able to ice a whole roster of just rookies. I don’t have a lineup yet but I can imagine we will see most of the following rookies…
19 F Glenn Gawdin (97)
20 F Denis Bosc (95)
23 F Dakota Odgers (96)
25 F Zac Mackay (95)
29 F Tanner LeSann (95)
32 F Jordan Wittman (96)
36 F Cavin Leth (96)
5 D Brycen Martin (96)
27 D Bobby Zinkan (95)
37 D Zack Gonek (96)
38 D Max Lajoie (97)
1 G Steven Myland (94)
30 G Landon Bow (95)
31 G Travis Child (97)
41 G Eetu Laurikainen (93)
I don’t know yet which goalies will play. I would think all of the rookie skaters will play. They will still have to fill the rosters up after that. I’ll post an updated lineup when I get it.
This is the second chance former teammates Brycen Martin and Brayden Point get to play against one another at the WHL. They were a nightmare for teams in bantam and midget hockey and now they will face off as members of rival teams. That could be a match up to watch for years to come.
I’m sure a lot of Bronco fans are heading to Moose Jaw tonight. Hopefully the guys have some decent support there. Again I’ll try Ustream and if that doesn’t work at the very least I’ll tweet updates from the game tonight and have some kind of blog post later.
Game time is 7pm in Moose Jaw.

Shaun did we not dress a few vets & still couldn’t beat MJ?
I wouldn’t take too much from a rookie game. That was a weird environment for the veterans to play in. It’s mainly an evaluation tool for the young guys and a chance to get some 97s from both teams into serious game action.
Shaun i disagree with you on that statement..This team needs to learn how to win & i don’t care if it’s a rookie game or not. I do hope Mark gives these 16 & 17 yr olds a shot & dumps a few vets …There is alot of vets as 18 & 19 yr olds that have did absolutely nothing all training camp….We are re- building are we not?
Management has said all throughout camp that the possibility is there for young guys to beat veterans out for their spots. I’m still very hesitant to judge anything from veterans playing in a rookie game. There is a lot of pre-season hockey yet for the guys who are here to establish who should stick and who shouldn’t.
Martin and Point played on the same team There whole life winter and spring
They won alot together as well
That’s why it will be interesting to see them go head to head on rival teams in the WHL.
