Click here for an article from the Broncos official website marking the tragic deaths 26 years ago of Trent Kresse, Scott Kruger, Chris Mantyka and Brent Ruff as a result of a bus crash while the team was traveling to Regina for a game against the Pats.
The Broncos held a special moment of silence and ceremonial puck drop with former Bronco and current Tigers Assistant Coach Darren Kruger before Friday’s victory over Medicine Hat. They also aired a very nice video tribute and put up board signs with the names of the four young men.
This year a book came out taking a closer look at the tragic crash and the aftermath. You can learn more about it by clicking here for an interview I did with co-author Gregg Drinnan. It’s a tough read but a worthy one.
I can’t imagine what it was like for family, friends and community members 26 years ago today. No matter how long it has been since that tragic day we should always pause to remember such a tremendously sad loss.
R.I.P.
