Home Hardware’s Overtime for January 28th (Download)
We had some technical glitches on the show tonight that made it a bit of a challenge. Hopefully we can get those cleared up for next Monday. Thanks for your patience! Also thanks to Richard Nedomlel, Dalton Reum and Larry Empey who were great live guests. The show also included an interview with former Bronco and NHLer Shane Hnidy. I hope you enjoy it!
BLACK SUSPENDED
I should also quickly mention that Graham Black was suspended for two games after receiving an elbowing major in Saturday’s game against Moose Jaw. Both Gordon and Black are maybe the least likely offenders in the league and have no history of dirty or even questionable play. In that light I think the punishment has been excessive… but with hits to the head you never know when you can really get dinged.
Missing Black is certainly going to make those games against Calgary and Edmonton that much tougher to win. The Broncos get a boost with Coda Gordon coming off suspension only to have another top six forward get suspended. Given how short they’ve played at different times this year I’m sure they will be ready.
Otherwise the less said about those aspects of Saturday’s game the better. I try not to talk about officiating because I don’t think it usually decides games, I don’t think officials are trying to influence results and in a development league they’re going to make mistakes like anyone else. Saturday was an exception for me and hopefully those who attended or watched the game understand that.
I would also add that Moose Jaw played well and earned their two points. Those comments aren’t meant to suggest otherwise.
The Broncos host Calgary on Wednesday.
