Stars from several generations of Swift Current Broncos hockey will take the ice today against the current generation of CFL football stars in Saskatchewan. That will make for an interesting dynamic in what should be a really fun day at the Credit Union iPlex. It starts at 12pm with the alumni game and continues on with the banquet, awards presentations and cabaret. Click here for more details.
As we got set for the event I chatted with a couple of Bronco legends to get their feelings on coming back for the weekend. The alumni game stuff is mostly at the beginning of each interview.

The stars of yesterday take on the stars of the gridiron Saturday afternoon in Swift Current.
The Riders Pride Hockey Challenge will feature Riders stars like Chris Getzlaf and Kory Sheets lacing up the skates against former Broncos like Sheldon Kennedy, Todd Holt and Tiger Williams.
“This was a big part of my life,” Kennedy said. “I need to be able to show up and give back. There was a lot of people that showed up, watched us play and gave us support. Anything I can do to help out and give back I’m going to do.”
While the Riders don’t have hockey experience on their side, Kennedy does see them having one major edge on the former Bronco stars.
“I think that’s the difference they’re going to be in good shape and we’re probably not going to be in a good shape,” Kennedy said. “It’ll be fun. These games are all about having fun, seeing some of your old teammates on the ice and having some good laughs.”
Holt isn’t taking the Riders for granted.
“I’m sure they’re no slouches,” Holt said. “Getzlaf obviously his brother (Ryan) is in the NHL. The other guys on the team they probably played a little hockey in their day. Whenever I’m involved in a charity event it’s obviously about the charities themselves and ultimately that’s what this day will be about.”
The game itself goes at 12 noon and raises money for both Swift Current Minor Football and the Broncos education fund.
The Broncos are also holding an awards banquet and cabaret and Walker Place on Saturday night.
