Here is my article on tonight’s game from Swift Current Online

The highest drafted player currently playing the Western Hockey League hits the Credit Union iPlex ice tonight.

2nd overall 2012 NHL draft pick Ryan Murray and the Everett Silvertips make their only visit of the season to Swift Current.

Broncos defenceman Dillon Heatherington is ready to test himself against Murray.

“I’m looking forward to watching him play and playing against him,” said Heatherington said. “You can always take little things from each and every player around the league and I’m looking forward to battling against him.”

The Broncos will be keeping their eyes on Murray.

“One player like Ryan Murray can totally turn the game around in his favour by himself,” Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb said. “He wouldn’t be playing in this league if there wasn’t an (NHL) lockout, that’s how special he is. I was one of the coaches over at the U18s he was our captain, I know how good of a player he is, he’s a player to watch.”

Everett has struggled so far this season winning only twice in nine games. Moose Jaw beat them 5-2 on Tuesday night. The Silvertips only play the Broncos once every season and only visit Swift Current every second year. Heatherington noted they can’t get away from the usually game plan against a team they so rarely play.

“Not much different than a regular team,” said Heatherington. “You don’t get to see their systems as often and you don’t know their strong players and what they can do as much, but you have to go in with the same mindset.”

Heatherington himself is expected to be a top draft pick this coming June. He was ranked as a “player to watch” in TSN analyst Craig Button’s most recent draft list and NHL Central Scouting noted him as a “B” level prospect in their first rankings.
