You can read more about the Benson/Craig trade in my previous post. I’ll also have some more thoughts on it probably later tonight. For now I’ve only got a couple of minutes so I’ll just post the interviews. I caught up with Benson at his first Bronco practice today (practicing even though he’s been sick because he wanted to get on the ice with his new team) and then chatted with Mark Lamb and Adam Lowry about the move.

Benson impressed his new team with his hands and puck skills in practice today. This is a player who was considered as good a prospect as any in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. A new opportunity, a new team and some new linemates could maybe give him a chance to explore that potential? Even if he “only” produces at the 37 to 44 point level he has in the last two years that’s still an experienced, reliable, two-way forward they can add to their lineup.
It sounds like Benson will get a shot in the top 6 and he’s a centre who is good on draws. Could we see Adam Lowry move back to his natural LW position with either Benson and Black? I’m very curious to see what the lineup will look like tomorrow against Saskatoon.
More thoughts later…
