Big Home Weekend for Broncos

It’s a big weekend for the Swift Current Broncos. They’ve won six games in a row and are moving up the ranks in the Eastern Conference… but they don’t have time to feel good about themselves. These games tonight against Regina and tomorrow against Moose Jaw at the Credit Union iPlex are vital for Swift Current if they want to keep moving up in the standings. They’re 4 points away from 4th place and the possibility of home ice advantage. This is also a chance to leave Moose Jaw and Regina in the rearview mirror.

The Broncos can’t get too sure of themselves going into these games. Regina gave them a really tough test last Saturday and despite their recent 5 game losing skid they are in every game they play and have some very dangerous players in their lineup. The Pats need this win as bad or worse than Swift Current does and they’re going to bring everything they have. It should be another intense game with a divisional rival.

Moose Jaw is a desperate team right now as they’ve lost 10 in a row and don’t want to fall out of the playoff race. They’ve got Morgan Rielly back and again played the Broncos really tough in their most recent game as they forced a shootout. These won’t be easy games. They never are against Regina and Moose Jaw… but with a steady diet of Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Prince Albert coming up, the Broncos need these points if they want to build on their positive momentum and take a real run not only at 4th but at the division.

The way they’ve been playing lately I hope we’ll see big crowds out for these two games. The guys deserve some major support based on their recent performances and I hope we’ll see just that.

Our broadcast starts at 6:30pm tonight with The New Pioneer Co-op Home Centre Broncos Hockey on The Eagle 94.1 FM.

Great crowd tonight! Nice to see the boys playing hard game in & game out. Amazes me how well were playing with 3 of our top players not in the lineup. The boys have bought in!
