The big day is finally here as the WHL season opens tonight in Regina. It’s been a long training camp/pre-season stretch with all the scrimmages, the black and white game and 8 exhibition games. Now we finally get down to the games that really count. The Broncos will have Dillon Heatherington and Coda Gordon back from NHL camps tonight. No word yet on Graham Black and Eetu Laurikainen isn’t with the team right now because he’s in Finland dealing with his schooling. He’ll be back after the weekend.

Our broadcast is live on The Eagle 94.1 FM at 7pm with the pre-game show and 7:30pm puck drop. Don’t forget the Broncos home opener is Saturday against the Pats and there’s an after party with The Chevelles. You can get tickets to the after party either at the Bronco office or The Buffalo Brew Pub.

Lastly I want to wish Daniel Dale all the best after his release yesterday. I know from a broadcaster perspective I’ll miss having him around because he is one of the better and more insightful interviews I’ve had in my time broadcasting in junior hockey. As much as Dale was known as a gritty, physical player on the ice he was a very important part of the dressing room in Swift Current as well. I’m sure he’ll be missed by his teammates.
