Colby Cave scored twice and had an assist, while Graham Black chipped in with three helpers in a 6-3 Swift Current Broncos win over Kamloops on Tuesday night.

The Broncos came back from down 2-0 after the first period to win their final game before the holiday break.

“We changed some things and we just get on track,” said Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen. “Get playing our well. Getting pucks deep, putting pressure. We’re not turning over pucks, not giving them momentum. We’re making pressure plays so now they have to take some penalties and it just kind of switched momentum.”

“Then you score a goal because you’re skating and just kind of going to the net.”

It’s become a habit for the Broncos since they stormed back from down 5-1 to beat Saskatoon earlier this season.

“Closeness as a group,” Cave said. “We know what we can do. Ever since that Saskatoon game coming back from such a large deficit really showed our team that no matter what we can come back and get a win.”

“This team is really close. We really believe in each. Everyone on the team will do anything to save or help another guy beside him.”

Glenn Gawdin scored a goal, had an assist and added a fight for the 16-year-old’s first career Gordie Howe hat trick. Jay Merkley and Dillon Heatherington also had a goal and an assist for the Broncos.
