Tim Bozon’s goal with 5:12 left in the third period put Kootenay ahead for good as the Ice beat the Swift Current Broncos 3-1 on Saturday night.
Bozon also sealed the game with the empty-net goal and was the most dangerous player for Kootenay throughout the night.
“He’s got a great shot,” said Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen. “He’s one of the class of the league for shooting the puck.”
It had been tied up for most of the game as both teams played pretty tight hockey in the second and third periods. Swift Current just couldn’t cash in on their opportunities and Kootenay did.
“We just couldn’t make a lot of four foot passes for whatever reason,” Evjen said. “It wasn’t having to go through a guy or indirect we just seemed to miss it just a little bit off for whatever reason. We’d get that rush, we’d miss the short pass and it would take a way scoring chances for us.”
“We missed the net especially in the first period the defence had five or six shots that could have got to the net.”
