After a really late start to the golf season last year it’s great to see both Swift Current courses now open with a full 18 holes. It’s a big year for Elmwood who are in the midst of a major renovation. New greens and new holes are coming for what is already a terrific course with some great views.
Elmwood continues to sponsor this blog and I thank them for their support in helping allow me to host audio on this site. Hopefully fans have appreciate access to that. As a result of their sponsorship the blog will include some stories and interviews on the golf course throughout the season.
The big story this week is that Brett Lernout is getting called up to Montreal to be part of their playoff “Black Aces” who get to experience the playoff run as healthy scratches. They will be practicing with the Habs and taking the games in. It’s a really good way to prime Lernout for his future with the team. Brett played six AHL games in Hamilton where he went pointless and was -1 with 6 shots on net.
- Lernout called up to Montreal
- Gawdin & U18s win again
- Lowry scores but Jets lose in Anaheim (Lowry had Winnipeg’s first playoff goal since they got their franchise back)
- Gawdin helps Canada to win over Latvia
- Weise & Rozsival start playoffs victorious
- McLellan coaching Canada at World’s
- Trottier not renewed by Sabres
There is a lot still going on with current and former Broncos. As long as that keeps up I’ll keep updating Swift Current Online and this blog with that news. Hope you’re having a great weekend and see you out on the golf course sometime this summer!
