I’ve talked to a lot of people so far throughout training camp and pre-season who have been impressed with what veteran defenceman Kade Jensen brings to the table for Swift Current. If he lives up to the impression he has left on some of the fans here he could be an absolute steal. Another sign that he is the real deal? The Chicago Blackhawks have invited him back to main camp after being impressed with him at their summer development camp. After Saturday’s loss to Medicine Hat I had a chance to chat with Kade about his experience so far in Swift Current and what’s coming in Chicago.
Interview with Kade Jensen:
The experience Jake DeBrusk (Boston), Glenn Gawdin (St. Louis), Landon Bow (Anaheim) and Jensen will get at NHL camps should be very valuable in preparing them for a season as veteran leaders on this Broncos club. We are talking about four of the most important players in determining how far Swift Current will go this season. It’s good to see that NHL teams have bought into them the same way.
It’s worth noting that Dillon Heatherington and Brett Lernout are both technically still eligible to be back here so they would be the 5th and 6th Broncos to attend an NHL camp this fall. That said it is highly unlikely either would be back here after they both signed pro contracts and are eligible for the AHL.

Up next is an exhibition game in Lethbridge on Friday and a home game against Regina on Sunday.
Our broadcast schedule starts with the home and home against Saskatoon to wrap up the pre-season.
Another note the Legionnaires are putting on a charity BBQ on Sunday before their pre-season game later that day at Fairview West. It’s a good cause and a chance to meet the team. Good things are happening with that program. I think in the long term it’s going to be really positive there.
