Post-Game Audio: Broncos 2 Wheat Kings 1 (SO)

brandon opener

Landon Bow made 53 saves and 3 more in the shootout as the Swift Current Broncos spoiled Brandon’s home opener on Friday night with a 2-1 road win.

Tyler Adams scored for Swift Current on a late first period power play and his former Regina midget teammate Connor Chaulk added the shootout winner as they picked up a victory in their WHL debuts.

Bow was the first star as he gave the skilled Wheat Kings very little to shoot at.

“When a guy is coming down on you and he’s got the upper hand you just give him what your goalie can handle,” said Broncos assistant coach Jamie Heward. “If you do give up a shot and there is a rebound you have to clear and you have to make sure there’s no second and third attacks.”

“I thought we did a good job eliminating high plays at the blue line. I just thought our guys did a fantastic job making sure they were responsible and clogging things up.”
