The Swift Current Broncos were half a period away from finishing an almost perfect weekend with a third straight win.

They found their scoring after a slow start to the season and had held their opponents to three total goals through nearly three completely games.

Sports have a way of teasing you with the ideal scenario before ripping it away. The Broncos got sucked into a sloppy finish giving four goals in the third period losing 6-5 to Saskatoon in regulation on Sunday.

“That’s not the way we want to finish out a game,” said Broncos forward Scott Feser. “We’re going into the third period up one goal and that’s not even the half of how it ended. I think we just have to finish out playing harder.”

“We gave them a couple of power plays at the end and they’re a team who have some skill. We played that structured team game in the first two periods… we got away from that and took some costly penalties.”

Swift Current carried a 3-2 lead to almost the midway point of the third before the game changed. Even as they managed to stay with the Blades offensively they couldn’t stop the bleeding.
